The Swiss Watch Industry in Geneva in mid-16th century. In 1541, reforms implemented by Jean Calvin and the prohibition of usury jewellery, goldsmiths forced jewelers and others in a new, independent craft: watches. Until the end of the century, watches in Geneva were already known for their high quality and watch in 1601 by the watchmaker ‘Guild of Geneva, the first to be put in place everywhere.
